What is the conservative foundation for belief that the media has a liberal bias? In the interest of disclosure, I frankly don't watch much of any television as I get my news on the internet these days and I am also not a liberal and definitely not a conservative (not to be mistaken for moderate, far left and far past liberal wankery).
To me, it would seem common sense that the five major american-owned corporations almost the entire media would favor conservative representation considering that a majority of media revenue is advertisement from other corporations. All of this sounds like a rather free market enterprise and I'm confused as to where the news infused itself with a liberal bias. Why would these corporations that obviously rely on the free market, capitalism, and the selling of the American dream have a... liberal bias?
I don't even understand the contention since I know whenever I've asked what conservatism is these days I've had my head bitten off and I don't think the definition of liberal is any less confounding.
I tried looking through Newsbusters and Media Research Center but I'm incredibly tired and may have missed any reports that did a specific analysis (if one can even be done convincingly). Does anybody have a better answer than, "Well, just look at MSNBC!"?

So who watched the debate? What'd you think?
Something I am not quite grokking. McCain proposed a $300 Billion proposition to buy up housing mortgages and put a floor on failing mortgage prices. Isn't that what the $700 Billion bailout package did?

Bachelor brothers Real and Chance may not have been lucky in love on “I Love New York” but now they will both get a second chance with “Real Chance of Love” premiering October 20 at 9:00PM*.

In this 9-episode series, these two brothers are certainly wild but in very different ways. Chance is a charming player who gets himself into trouble with his explosive personality. Real is the perfect gentleman with a romantic side he isn’t afraid to show. What these brothers are looking for in a woman is quite different, but in the end what the “Stallionaires” might want could be the same woman. ( More promo pics for your viewing pleasure inside... )

I have never seen " I love New York" but I find it hard to believe that these men would be sought after by women. I do envy the hair of the guy with the red scarf.

Posted this in linguistics but I forgot that community is pretty dead. Does anyone know anything/done research about the impact of writing direction on well.... ANYTHING. :P For example, why did Greek bother to switch to left-right when the writing systems it descended from were right-left? I remember seeing a paper about how this affects how people see their spatial environment, for example a person seeing the right first instead of the left, if used to reading right to left. Don't know where that paper went though...

I'm watching the debate currently (west coast), and I'm wondering if anyone is keeping track of certain key phrases used by the debaters. For instance, I have heard several times, though I have not counted, McCain using the term "my friends". So, if you have the data: 1) "my friends" (McCain vs. Obama?) 2) Barack waffling on subjects 3) How many times either of them have gone over the time limit
Anything else that has been incorrect, or interesting would be fantastic.
Personally, I think the debate is hilarious.

| How much are YOU willing to pay to kick Michael Lohan's ass |

Michael Lohan's ready to fight anyone who wants to take him.
Lohan's auctioning off the chance to knock him out in a charity boxing match Nov. 24 at the Hilton Long Island in Melville, N.Y. Bidding to challenge Lohan begins at $5,000. Proceeds will go to charities including the Long Island Community Chest, which provides financial support to needy families.
Asked by ABCNews.com whether he'd fight Ronson if she was the highest bidder, Lohan let out a whoop of laughter and said:
"How about her brother [disc jockey Mark Ronson]? Samantha -- I’m not even going there. No, no, no. I wouldn’t get in a ring with a woman."
"I’ve seen a lot of pictures of Lindsay. She seems happy," he said. "If that’s the direction she wants her life to take, I’m happy for her."
Regardless of what happens in the ring, Lohan remains bent on proving that he's the good guy in his Hollywood family drama. He said he has text messages and voice mails to back him up, and he's not afraid to use them.
"I have a court date Oct. 16 with Dina. ... If anything’s going to be released, it’s going to be released in the proper setting, which is the court. If it’s released, then everyone will know who really has Lindsay's best interests at heart."

The pair - who were once friends - have been trading insults on popular social networking site Facebook.
Mean Girls star Lindsay branded the hotel heiress a “b***h” and called her “pathetic” before launching a four-letter tirade after Paris had set up a group on the site called ‘Firecrotch’, referring to the actress’ red hair.
But Paris hit back, saying it was her who was the pathetic one because she has set up a Facebook group about her first called ‘Paris Wets Herself’, which refers to a couple of alleged incidents involving the 27-year-old blonde. The former friends initially fell out over Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos III, who they have both dated.

| Don't Make Sherri Shephard Get Off In That Ass! |

The past couple days of The View Hassleback has been ranting that Sen. Obama is a terrorist. I'm convinced Fox News gives her talking points for each segment. Babara Walters tried to calm things by saying we should focus on the issues, but Miss Hassle decided to grind. While Whoopi Goldberg has got into that ass on more than one occasion, it was now Sherri Shepherd's turn. The adhesive in her weave nearly melted off when she said, "What about the woman that McCain left that didn't even want him to know that she had been in a horrible, horrible accident -- and he came back, met another woman named Cindy McCain, left the woman that waited for him! Can we talk about that?"
